Jordan was a novice seaman when he sailed with me from Baltimore to Fort Lauderdale. By the time he arrived he was an able seaman capable of standing a watch on his own. It was a real test of his character that he was up to the task, especially when we rounded Cape Hatteras in a full-on gale.
